I got out of racing a few years ago for a number of reasons, but mainly my back problems from crashing at Bardstown. Last year I picked up an old dilapidated 33 Chevy coupe race car on ebay for $650 including my gas to go get it up near the Bunker Hill race track in Indiana. I brought it back and took it to the mid-season race at Bardstown to see if anyone was interested in bringing it back to life. Well, I guess most guys have forgotten the "ROOTS" of vintage stock cars by now, or have NEVER known about where it all started and how simple race cars were 40 and 50 years ago. I caught more jokes and more insults about my little race car find that night, that I left early to go home and decided I was going to rebuild that "piece of sh__ ! ", as I heard it called. Well, Tiny and Jobie pitched in, and we worked her over, installed safety equipment, put some fresh roll bars in her, added a crate motor, and put a rookie driver in her. Now to make a LONG story short.... Guess what car slipped in and "WON" the FEATURE race at FREEDOM HALL Friday night ! yep, that old piece of sh__ $650 car. NOW who cracking the jokes !
OH, by the way, I've picked up a few more fine pieces over the past few months, and bubba racing will be fielding at least 5 fine rides for the FULL 2004 season.
